Grandest Grandparents

The 2010 Grandest Grandparents celebration will be held on October 30th (Saturday) at 11:30AM at the Crowne Plaze in downtown Knoxville. It is a chance for some to honor our grandparents who are considered our living libraries.

To nomiante a grandparent simply write down the info of yourself(nominator) and the info of the nominess along with a 1 to 2 page essay sharing a story or a telling us what makes your grandparents so special. You can submit electronically to

East Tennessee Black Sports Exhibit — Feb 11, 2012 6:00pm - Feb 29, 2012 11:30pm

In honor of Black History Month, the Beck Cultural Exchange Center will highlight significant athletes, coaches, teams, and events that are Native to the East TN area. We need your help. Send pictures to Andre Canty-acanty@beckcenter.net or copies of pictures to 1927 Dandridge Ave. Knoxville, TN 37915.
It's open to all high schools past and present in the East TN area. If there are people and teams that you think deserve to be in the exhibit, send a picture and in writing, tell us why.

The Beck Center will host kick-off party in celebration of the Kentucky Derby. It will be a social event that will consist of historical information regarding the Derby, the evolutionary process of the jockeys, and Derby trivia.

The Beck Center will host a party in celebration of the Kentucky Derby. NBC has sanctioned the used of authentic Derby footage that will be the anchor of the main event. We are encouraging the ladies to wear the beautiful traditional hats and get into the atmosphere of the Derby. We plan to use a horse motif decorating theme whenever possible. Prizes will be given away in lieu of cash for winners of each of the races.
